Can a biological cartridge holster for fish tank still be used after it has been rinsed in tap water?

I rinsed my biological cartridge holster in the filter of my fish tank with tap water, but didn't realize til after in the manual that you cant do that because of the good bacteria that is on it. will the good bacteria grow back on the cartridge if i don't wash it anymore?
