About red dead redemption?

i was wondering in the originol red dead redemption single player how do i get jhon marston wen just walking around to keep his gun out.Its like this if i make him draw his gun 4 seconds he puts it back in his holster.this does not hapen in the undead nighmare or multyplayer is there a way to fix it couse its annoying.
